Rainbows:
Last week, our challenge was to create our own rainbows to add into our windows. The aim was to put a smile on people’s faces. Here are some of the wonderful rainbows in Willow class.
Learning from home:
From Monday we will be starting our learn from home experience. The main site we will be using is Seesaw which is an online journal that allows the children to share their work in a variety of different ways. There are also lots of other resources that are becoming available all of the time. Keep coming back to the website to check for updates. Remember, do what you can, when you can and feel free to share what you are doing using the Seesaw platform. I look forward to seeing you all helping with the cooking and cleaning around the house!!
Daily learning:
There are a few things that we recommend doing each day:
- TTRockstars – Aim to score at least 100 points everyday. (Watch out for the competitions)
- Numbots – Use your TTRockstars password to access this site. It is great for practising your quick number skills.
- PE with Joe Wicks – At 9.00 every morning Joe Wicks will be running a 30 minute PE session. Let us know how it goes.
- Story time with David Walliams – David Walliams is reading extracts from his books every day. Sit back, have a drink and listen to one of his very funny stories.
- Emile Education – a new online learning platform which all of the children have passwords to. Use the app to create your own Emile. I will be adding bonus points for good work on Seesaw!
- Oxford Owl – While the schools are closed Oxford Owl have added loads of books to their ebooks section for free. You will need to register, but it is well worth it.
- Reading – Read as often as possible. It doesn’t need to be your school book. Why not share a review for a book on Seesaw? We will be adding links to useful sites in the coming days.

Willow Class Curriculum Overview
Look at our curriculum map to see everything we’re learning about this year.
What should a Year 3/4 child be able to do?
The 2014 National Curriculum outlines the expected standards that children should reach by the end of each year in primary school. These are outlined below.
PE
PE will be on a Friday and swimming will be a Tuesday. It is important children wear the correct PE kit. Our PE kit consists of;
- A white t-shirt
- Black or blue shorts
- Suitable shoes/plimsolls
To ensure children have the correct clothing and footwear children should bring their PE kit in at the beginning of the term and leave it in school. We will send kits home at half terms to be washed ready for the next half term.
Please note no jewellery is allowed to be worn during PE for safety reasons and will need to be removed during PE and sporting activities.
Homework
Homework will be sent out on a Friday, it will consist of a piece of topic work. Some pieces may be expected to last a couple of weeks. Spellings may be sent on some occasions; children should practice the spelling rule. This rule will not be tested the same week sent home but will be in the weeks after. This is to ensure children are learning rules and not lists of words. It would be appreciated if all homework could be returned by the following Wednesday, unless advised otherwise.
