School Year 2021 – 2022
Through a Soldier’s Eyes
Maple class visited Bishop Auckland Town Hall for the Through a Soldier’s Eyes workshop. they experienced a session brought to life by an actor as Private McDonald as a soldier in the First World War trenches, took part in some role play of their own and enjoyed a film about the war using artwork. An interesting and thoughtful morning.
Following on from through a Soldier’s Eyes workshop, we listened to the stories of soldiers from the Durham Light Infantry and investigated artefacts.
As part of our work looking at potatoes we made Bombay potato curry. The children followed the recipe and prepared the ingredients. We all had a taste, some loved it, some not so much.
We have been researching all about evacuees, we made our own posters trying to persuade parents to send their child to safety.
World War Two
We have been budding historians this term, researching World War Two. We have made some pic collages using photos as a back drop and adding images form the war.
We have been learning about Christoph Neimann and his Sunday Sketches in which he creates art work which blends drawings with real objects. Here are some of our amazing artwork.
