ECO Club

The Eco Team is a group of dedicated Key Stage 2 pupils who attend a weekly club every Tuesday and who ensure eco practice happens at Oakley Cross on a daily basis.

We work really hard trying to raise awareness of environmental issues in our school.

The Eco team have created some posters explaining their work and projects. Why not have a look and find out more about what we do?

We currently hold Silver Eco School status and are working hard to keep this going. For this status we have our dedicated club, run energy saving fortnights, raise awareness for saving energy and recycling, hold fair trade tuck shops and contribute to school newsletters.

We have also recently joined the Woodland Trust’s Green Trees Schools award scheme to hopefully add to our accolades. These awards are achieved by collecting points for doing eco/environmental activities. We have ordered some saplings to create a new hedge in our forest area, had a recent forest trip and with our everyday jobs I think fingers crossed we’ll have a Bronze award in the near future!

In March we ran a Waste Week at school and Tidy Ted came and did an assembly and workshops for all of the children in school. We learnt a lot about the environment and how bad litter can be but of course it was still lots of fun !

Here’s the assembly PowerPoint that Eco delivered to the school aswell – Take a look !
